MacKenzie Scott, philanthropist and Jeff Bezos' ex-wife, gives $3 million to Utah arts nonprofit Spy Hop
The Salt Lake City arts nonprofit Spy Hop discovered that there are benefits when somebody gets a divorce.
MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire philanthropist, recently gave out $2.74 billion in gifts to 286 “high-impact” groups around the world. She targeted higher education institutions, groups “bridging divides through interfaith support and collaboration” to battle racial and ethnic discrimination, and arts and cultural organizations.
Scott has, so far, given away $8 billion of her fortune, estimated at $60 billion, from her 4% stake in Amazon — which she received in a divorce settlement from her ex-husband, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Spy Hop received a $3 million gift from Scott — a gift that comes with no conditions on how the group should spend it.
